A man without a goal
is like a ship without a
rudder

Reflection: What Carlyle is saying is that anyone without a goal won't be motivated to achieve. Without motivation, you won't achieve anything. Without achieving anything there is no direction in life.

with honor, than win
by cheating
Sophocles

Reflection: Sophocles explains that, it is more honorable to fail than to win cheating. I agree, failing with honor is better than winning with lies. You can fool everyone, but you can't fool yourself.
